Psychiatric practices operate in a highly complex billing environment where time-based coding, medication management rules, and payer-specific behavioral health policies directly affect revenue performance and reimbursement accuracy outcomes.
Psychiatric practices operate in a highly complex billing environment where time-based coding, medication management rules, and payer-specific behavioral health policies directly affect revenue performance and reimbursement accuracy outcomes.
Dr Biller RCM delivers result oriented psychiatric billing services that improve claim accuracy, reduce denials, and accelerate reimbursements. We support billing for psychiatric services across outpatient psychiatry, telepsychiatry, and behavioral health models.
Psychiatric billing requires strict adherence to coding guidelines, documentation standards, and payer-specific behavioral health rules. Even small errors can result in significant revenue loss.
Without specialized expertise, psychiatric practices often face delays, denials, and administrative overload that impact both financial stability and patient care.
Left unresolved, these issues can significantly reduce monthly revenue performance for psychiatric practices.
Dr Biller RCM combines psychiatry-focused expertise with advanced revenue cycle strategies to optimize reimbursement and streamline billing psychiatric services.
Accurate coding for psychiatric evaluations, psychotherapy sessions, medication management, and E/M services ensures full reimbursement and compliance.
Every claim is validated against psychiatric payer rules to improve first-pass acceptance rates, reduce rejections, and ensure faster reimbursement turnaround.
We identify root causes of denials, correct documentation or coding errors, and aggressively recover lost revenue through structured appeals.
Access dashboards tracking claim performance, denial trends, payer behavior, and revenue cycle efficiency.
Clear billing communication improves patient collections and reduces confusion in psychiatric payment workflows.
Our processes align with CMS, HIPAA, and payer-specific psychiatric regulations to reduce audit risk and ensure compliance.
Psychiatric claims are denied most often because the wrong code family, add-on or time threshold is used. Our coders work from psychiatry-specific rules for each service you provide:

Can a psychiatrist bill an E/M visit and psychotherapy on the same day?
Yes. The E/M visit is billed with a psychotherapy add-on code (90833, 90836 or 90838) when psychotherapy is separately documented with start and stop times. Time spent on the E/M portion cannot be counted toward the psychotherapy time.
Do payers cover TMS therapy?
Medicare and most commercial plans cover TMS for major depressive disorder when coverage criteria are met, such as documented failure of prior medication trials. Most commercial plans also require prior authorization, which we request and track before treatment starts.
How do you handle Spravato billing?
We verify benefits and prior authorization for both the medication and the monitoring visit, then bill the observation service (G2082 or G2083 for Medicare) with the documentation each payer requires.
How do you handle switching billing companies?
We review your open A/R first so no outstanding claims are lost during the transition.
